Applications for hundreds of scholarships offered through the Public Education Foundation (PEF) are now open to current high school seniors and college students at thepef.org/scholarships.

“Hundreds of generous donors within our community are making it possible for our students to pursue their post-secondary dreams,” said Rich Broome, CEO of the Public Education Foundation. “We applaud their incredible efforts and invite others to join us as we support our students on their paths to future success.”

Since 1995, PEF has provided nearly 8,000 students with approximately $27 million in college scholarships. In 2022, the program awarded a record-breaking $5 million in scholarships to ensure students with financial need have the opportunity to pursue their post-secondary dreams. The need for this assistance is only growing, as more than 17,000 scholarship applications were submitted in the 2021-2022 scholarship cycle.

PEF’s online scholarship platform helps students determine which scholarships they are eligible for and makes it easier for students to apply for multiple scholarship opportunities. With over 900 scholarships available, students are able to explore a variety of options to support their educational goals.

“Many lower-income students, including myself, have thought about perhaps not going to college because of the many expenses that go into pursuing an education after high school,” shared scholarship recipient and current University of Nevada, Las Vegas student Christopher Franco Balderas. “It is great to know that there are people that recognize our valiant efforts as students, the countless hours studying, the uneven work-school-life balance, and even the stress that comes with being on your own as a first-generation college student.”

The online application form is open until January 31, 2023. For more details on scholarships and the application process, please visit thepef.org/scholarships.
