Applications for hundreds of scholarships offered through the Public Education Foundation (PEF) are now open to current high school seniors and college students at thepef.org/scholarships.

“We want to thank the many generous donors who make our scholarships possible,” said Rich Broome, CEO of the Public Education Foundation. “In a time of economic uncertainty, post-secondary financial support is more important than ever for our students.”

Since 1995, PEF has provided more than 7,100 students with approximately $22 million in college scholarships. In 2021, the program awarded a record-breaking $3 million in scholarships to ensure students with financial need have the opportunity to pursue their post-secondary dreams. The need for this assistance is only growing, as more than 18,000 scholarship applications were submitted in the 2020-2021 scholarship cycle.

PEF utilizes an online platform that helps students determine which scholarships they are eligible for and makes it easier for students to apply for multiple scholarship opportunities. With approximately 300 scholarship opportunities available, students are able to explore a variety of options to support their educational goals.

“I know there are so many students, like me, that dream of college and the opportunities that college creates, but who are unable to reach these goals due to the financial burden,” shared scholarship recipient and current University of Nevada, Reno student Carlena Poma. “I thought I was going to have to put a halt to my dreams but because of scholarships, I don’t have to. Scholarships are giving me the opportunity to go to college so that I can do my part in making the world a better place.”

The online application form for students to apply is open until January 31, 2022. For more details on scholarships and the application process, please visit thepef.org/scholarships.
