At its core, The Public Education Foundation invests in ideas. We investigate and evaluate ways that our children can be better educated.

Improving public education depends on teachers, principals, policymakers and community leaders having the courage and capacity to solve the difficult problems facing our schools. The Foundation’s Leadership Institute of Nevada identities the most promising classroom, school and system leaders, develops their skills, and connects them to communities and networks in order to amplify their impact for students and the citizens of Nevada.

The Institute is teaching the leadership of our schools – both at the executive level and in the classroom – to be strategic thinkers. It takes great leaders to solve the problems facing public education and deliver improved outcomes for students.

The Institute consists of several high-impact programs: the Executive Leadership Academy, the Teacher Leader Academy, the Empowered Leaders Network, Community Roundtables and Regional Leadership Summits.

The need for entrepreneurial leadership in education is greater now than ever. By connecting education and private sector leaders with each other and the nation’s top thought leaders and practitioners, the Institute facilitates a solutions-based dialogue that ultimately produces a highly engaged community, a changed system and better outcomes for children.

The Institute’s programs are designed to catalyze a culture shift by creating and supporting a critical mass of good-to-great leaders throughout the state. Designed with nationally recognized thought leaders, the Institute offers a responsive and cutting-edge curriculum within a Nevada context. This place-based approach is not only cost efficient but it also allows participants to immediately apply big ideas to local challenges.
