If you currently serve as a support professional or long-term substitute and wish to pursue a teaching certification, our Teacher Pathway program may be just what you are looking for! 

PEF is collaborating with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) College of Education to identify paraprofessionals who want to become teachers and who are close to obtaining their associate degrees. Teacher Pathway pairs teacher candidates (mentees) with master educators (mentors) who work with their mentees to ensure they are prepared for teacher education programs, including applying for financial aid, understanding the time requirements of their teacher preparation program, arranging for childcare and transportation, social-emotional support, test preparation, and more. PEF also partners with Study.com to provide free test preparation materials for our mentees to help them prepare for and pass their teacher certification tests. 

We aim to ensure mentees meet the requirements for admittance to UNLV’s Paraprofessional Pathway Project (PPP), where they can finish their bachelor’s degree and obtain their teaching certification.
