The Education Hero Award

Kris Engelstad McGarry and the Engelstad Family Foundation have a robust commitment to improving the quality of life for those who call Southern Nevada their home. Children, education, health care and the entire community benefit from the enduring generosity of the Engelstads. Most recently, the Engelstad Family Foundation awarded a $1.6 million grant to The Public Education Foundation to expand its early-childhood learning, language development and parent engagement programs that improve literacy. The Engelstad Family Foundation, with Kris at the helm, has been a guiding light for philanthropic giving in Southern Nevada.

The Lifetime Education Achievement Award

During the five decades that have passed since Dorothy Eisenberg moved to Southern Nevada, she has been an unflinching advocate for equality, justice and public education. Dorothy played an instrumental role in paving the way for the desegregation of Clark County public schools in the 1970s. A founding member of The Public Education Foundation, she actively serves on our board in furthering our initiatives.

Clint Holmes is an internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter. He has been a tireless advocate for children and the arts for nearly four decades. Through the Clint Holmes Foundation for Performing Arts, he has partnered with The Public Education Foundation’s Artists 4 Kidz program.
